Chicken

I've always bought my chicken from Costco. I've never even looked at it at regualar stores. After listening to some moms discuss grocery costs, I decided to check it out. Yes indeed! On sale, chicken at Wal-Mart and Safeway was cheaper by $2 a lb. This experience has opened my eyes. I'm now evaluting all my other "I always" grocery practices. I'm determined to find the other deals I've missed out on in the past. If you've found a good deal, tell us about it!

  1. At Safeway, and probably other stores with a bakery, you can get "day old" bread on discount. I get these when we make french toast, garlic bread, "fancy toast", bread chips...when freshness doesn't matter as much. It's about $1.50 cheaper than buying the fresh breads of regular bread.
